5 Things To See In Paris- In A Day

Paris Is Always A Good Idea

I know some of my friends and family will read this and roll their eyes…. hahaha. Yes my lovelies another Paris trip! This though was slightly different… Each time I have been there its been either with friends, family or loved ones. This however was my first solo-trip to the city of love. And it was my best solo-trip yet! It was also the one mini trip that absolutely opened my eyes to the beauty that is Paris. Also I spent 7 hours walking, so that’s my workout covered for 2 weeks!

I again joined the wonderful people at Studifahrten on a trip to Paris ! They are fast becoming my favourite way to travel and sight see! As usual we travelled there by bus and it was such a comfortable ride. I was slightly anxious and nervous but more excited about the trip. Seeing as it was such short notice I wasn’t really prepared but despite all that it was quite an enjoyable trip. Once there we went on a tour of the city’s major landmarks and some of them are my top to-see things

The Eiffel Tower

Named after Gustav Eiffel the 324 metre wrought iron tower is the most visited place in the city. It was the tallest structure for about 40 years until some other building in the USA surpassed it. The funny thing about this structure is that when it was built the creative community, artists and citizens were highly opposed to it. They demanded it be torn down, Gustav though had invested a lot of money in its construction, so to settle the dispute he told the city officials to pay him back his money. The city didn’t have the money needed so they came to an agreement with Gustav and allowed the tower to stay for a period of 20 years in order to pay him back. News of the structure circulated and people travelled far and wide to see it. It became so popular that roughly 6 million people visit it per year. Hmmm…. look at that, I actually was paying attention during that tour. A pretty penny will take you all the way to the top and trust me it is worth going to the top and taking in the view.

The Notre Dame de Paris

The cathedral is one of the best French Gothic architecture in Paris. I think I fell asleep after wards so I didn’t really get to hear the history or story of it. I went to check it out later on my own and loved the details! The architects put in so much time and effort into the intricate statues.

Of all the times I have been to Paris, last weekend was the first time I actually entered the museum. Located in the Louvre Palace this museum holds the worlds most prestigious art pieces. From paintings to Greek , Egyptian , Etruscan and Islamic art the museum is overflowing with creativity.

This place is massive though! I spent a close 2-3 hours on just one floor and I didn’t realize it! I then had to speed through the rest of the floors and art.

Jardin du Luxembourg

and finally….

If you’re looking for somewhere french and yet affordable to eat then by all means visit Le Marceau!  I went for the honey glazed duck and obviously a side of chips 🙂  and salad.

My experience in Paris was interesting and at the same time a bit sad. Each shop, supermarket, fast food place you went your bag had to be searched beforehand. Now I understand its for security reasons and I was grateful of such thoroughness, what saddened me is the reality of life in Paris today because of the awful incidents that occurred there last year .

Wow In a day? Just Louvre is for minimum one day! You must be really quick than 🙂 I can add Le printemps to your list. In fact it is a shopping mall but what is worth to do there is to go up to the roof to see amazing view on the city. It is a good alternative for other places to enjoy the view, because it is free 😉
